So. I said I’d do this and here it is. I have a theory and I wanted to share it. Seemed topical given the online battle going on over video games.
What is up with female representation in video games? Is it sexism? Misogyny? Ignorant? Well, I have an idea and let me share it with you. As usual, please, indulge me and read to the end. It is along read so I hope you all are buckled in.
What is my theory? That the problems with representation isn’t to do with the negative outlook on women from society. It comes from the inherent positive view of women society has. That is to say, the view that women are inherently nice and pure, that we shield women from harm, that society cares much more about the plight of women than it does men.
I’m sure I’ve already lost a lot of you. But please, read beyond the break. Give me a fair shake. I’m a woman and I’ve been a gamer for a long time, probably close to a decade and a half. I’ve seen these issues evolve and I’ve experienced a lot of this behavior in real life. So, I’ll say again.

I hate to say it king, but if you consider CP being taken down “censorship”, you should really take a step back and think about your life.
Nobody is saying taking down CP is censorship. It’s everything else, everything legal, being taken down that is being called censorship. Stop being a disingenuous asshole.
Plenty of NSFW artists, SFW artists and models are getting hit with the filter, which directly impacts their ability to network with their audience, which impacts their income.
It’s amazing that you think that you of all people will survive the purge after this one, where the WSJ or any other news outlet cites “far right” extremism on this site and Tumblr decides to purge anyone right of Mao.
Not only that @m4a1-shermayne but you had to say what you said knowing you were being dishonest. 99.5% of people want the CP gone. They never even mentioned that in the post. The new system is flagging almost everything at this point and they are outright killing sfw lewd blogs and nsfw blogs. And in most cases they are related to someone’s livelihood. Be they sex workers, pin-up girls, models or even commission artists both sfw & nsfw. The OP and their protege who posted under them are narrow minded lunatics making light of a problem because they don’t see censorship as a problem when it does not affect them. Which is stupid considering the people that hate the sex industry more than the left is the FAR Right. Which is laughable considering the fact that the right is supposed to be in the side of the Constitution which they actually show contempt towards when it does not suit their goals.
Again it’s not about “not wanting the CP gone” or “Omg all my tits are leaving me!” It’s strait about censorship. Plain and simple.
